Even though the Rangers claimed bragging rights over the rest of the league for their performance during the regular season, the high-end depth in the NHL won't make their quest for a title easy.

There were a total of four teams that finished the season with at least 110 points, with three of them in the Eastern Conference.

The Rangers are looking to break the streak of Presidents' Trophy winners that failed to win the Stanley Cup. The last team to finish with the most points in the regular season and take home the title was the Chicago Blackhawks in 2012-13 when the season was shortened to 48 games due to a lockout.

New York and Washington split four head-to-head meetings in the regular season, with each team holding serve on its home ice, but they haven't played since Jan. 14.

After last season's first-round disappointment, the Boston Bruins will begin their postseason run at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

The Bruins didn't quite replicate their success from the 2022-23 regular season when they set NHL records for wins (65) and points (135), but their 109 points this year are their second-most in the past six seasons.

Boston will be looking to advance past the first round for the first time in three years. It seems to be a favorable matchup for the club after sweeping the regular-season series against the Maple Leafs.

The Carolina Hurricanes might be the best team in the Eastern Conference, despite finishing behind the Rangers in the Metropolitan Division. They tied for the league lead with eight shutouts during the regular season and have been rolling with a 24-8-2 record after the All-Star break.

This is the third consecutive season the Hurricanes have racked up more than 110 points. They were rolling in the first two rounds of the playoffs last year with a combined 8-3 record against the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils before getting swept in the conference finals by the Florida Panthers in a series that saw all four games decided by one goal.

The Dallas Stars finished with the most points in the Western Conference for the first time since the 2015-16 season. That team lost a seven-game series to the St. Louis Blues in the second round of the postseason.

Dallas' quest for its first Stanley Cup title since 1999 will begin against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights.

The Knights have been a mediocre team since the All-Star break with a 16-14-2 record. They did sweep all three head-to-head matchups with the Stars during the regular season, though they haven't played since Dec. 9.
